What is Cross Cultural Awareness?

Cross Cultural Awareness is the ability to look away from ourselves and have an awareness and understanding of the cultural values and customs of other cultures. What may be normal and acceptable to us, could be unusual to other cultures. An awareness and respect of the different value systems handed down in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, in relation to family, land, sea and heritage.

Cross Cultural Awareness is also about challenging people’s attitudes and mindsets of the way they think and do things in a Cross Cultural environment.
This training will provide you with the ability to communicate effectively and a knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait culture and society. This training will explain what ‘Aboriginal Cultural Protocols’ are.
